my one teacher had something similar her blood parrots slept it was really weird and they lived it has happened two separate times and they're still alive they did better when the pH went down

I disagree. They are part of a varied high protein diet. Live and frozen foods of a wide variety (microworms, bloodworms, grindalworms, daphnia, etc) is actually the best diet for a betta, as it reflects their natural diet of bugs and larvae. However, for many people who only have one or two bettas, it is easier to feed a betta pellet supplemented by one or two of the frozen options. Live culture keeping is not for everyone.

He is doing so much better. He noticed the blood worms I put in there right away and went to eat them. I put a plant in there and he rests on it. I just feel bad because I am used to my other fish having such big tanks. This one seems tiny. Is there something better I could get?

Also, is there a way to tell age? I know they don't live too long.
Are his eyes supposed to stick out like that?
Is his belly normal?
How do his fins look?
What type is he? I'm having trouble haha...
