is it needed to have a skimmer in a small salty tank or a normal filter that is used in a fresh water tank fine ? as long as it can go in salt water though

so you would have your heater
your filter
your live rock which wound help with the filtering
neccesary test equipment what else do you need

looking at turning my fresh 50 ltr into a salty !!!!!!!

thanks in advance

also i might add i only want a fish and live rock tank

can someone tell me a reef tank is one with corals but does this include the anenomies cause they grow on the live rock yeah

i want anenomies and a clam ect but not the corals to hard basket there

only looking at 3 or 4 small fish with live rock not too much

Well firstly, Anemones and clams are even more demanding than corals. They need very expensive lights and excellant water perameters. Both if these are totally out of the question for a beginner tank IMO.

A skimmer is nesessary with such a small tan as it will help reduce nutrients and help keep water stable.

To be honest 3 or 4 fish in a 50 litre tank is not possible due to the terratory saltwater fish need and the bioload this would put on the tank.

As said anenomes and clams are probably out of the question as well.

50 liters = approx 13 US gallons...

I would say YES on the skimmer. I don't have one on my 10 gallon, but am very seriously considering it.

3 fish *might* work if you got the right ones (yes, I know I'm overstocked - long story) but I'd stick with 2. A pair of clowns would be fun :)

Ditto the above on staying away from anemones and clams. There are many soft corals like polyps and zoos that you can have with lower lighting - you'll need to upgrade a little from standard lighting but these can thrive without halides.
