Hi mrobot! Sorry to hear you've had such a bad start to fishkeeping. Your problems are likely to be related to water problems, often happens when you start up a new tank. How many fish have you currently got in the tank? Are you dechlorinating the water?

The most helpful thing you can do is to read up the pinned topics on cycling a tank. Actually filtering the water for 2 weeks is not going to do anything to get it ready for fish. There are two ways of achieving this: either by adding ammonia to an empty tank and not putting the fish in until the cycle is completed OR adding just one or two fish and then waiting for a couple of months before further additions. But read the topics- they explain it better than I do.

As you have already got fish in there, you will not have the option of cycling with ammonia. Your task is to keep the fish as comfortable as you can during these testing first few weeks. You will want to buy a test kit so you can test the water for ammonia and nitrites. These appear in a new tank but are toxic to fish, so you will want to keep the levels down with frequent water changes (dechlorinated water), to give your fish a chance to fight the infection.
