Ok so I go onto heaps of breeding sites and see that they dont have filters in there tanks why is that usually they just have a pipe on top of the tanks and was wondering how they do that.

Centeralized filtration system, similar to a sump for marine tanks, but set up for multiple tanks. Advantages are one huge filter to maintain instead of a bunch of little ones, and water can be changed in all the tanks from one location. Disadvantages are cost, installation, and if there is an outbreak of a disease in one tank, it is spread to all the tanks on that system.
