Hi! I'm new to this site and am very excited to be getting a 46Gallon bowfront tomorrow! Its been a couple years of planning to get to this point. I've done a lot of research but have not been able to actually use any of the knowledge yet (like cycling). I also want a fully planted tank. Since I am unfamiliar with a lot of these products I need any input people can give me. Most of these brands came from reading what other people have and which people seem the most satisfied with and high quality, easy to use but still trying to be cost effective:

Eheim Classic 2215 Kit - I've heard canisters are really good for planted tanks.
Jager Heater - 150 Watts - I've heard this is a good brand but don't really know if this is the right wattage.
Seachem Prime - 250ml
Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Freshwater Master Test Kit - I think I heard this one is good. Let me know if there is something better.
Carib Sea Eco-Complete Plant Substrate 20 Lbs. - I already have 1 bag and think I need 2 more. Even including the extra shipping charge this seems to be around what pet stores sell it at and none of my local ones seem to sell it.
10" Python Gravel Tube
20' Extension Tubing
Python Pump

I plan on putting the order in this weekend so any input would be really appreciated!! :)

Oh shoot. I meant to put this in the Beginners forum .

Hi SolarityBengals, welcome to the forum :) Nice kitty, by the way. I know a couple of good places to order online in the US. I think you already have the lind to one of the best. Big Al's. Looking at the Python equipment that you are buying seperately I was wondering why you don't just order a 50' python kit?

I didn't see a 50'. The smallest kit I saw was the 75' and that was way too big...and expensive. I guess this is the thing I was most confused about. I'm not even sure those are the right parts?

The girl in my avatar is Meeka and she's an F3 Bengal. I have to say my main love is with cats but I'm looking forward to having a tank! It should provide entertainment for my 3 cats too :D .

I've been wanting this tank for about 2 years and to think I'm finally going to get it!!! I've already done sooo much research on which fish I want though I'm not sure what quantities are good yet. But that will be a ways off as I know it takes a while to cycle and I want to get it planted before the fish come too.

You're right, Big Al's doesn't carry the 50' Python kit. Dr Foster and Smith does on their site.
I think it is like $34 plus shipping for a 50' Python kit.

Those cats are amazing. Lucky for you to be able to care for them :)

It's great that you do a lot of research before you take on the responsibility of caring for animals. Not many of us are that patient.

Wow I just checked and they now have a kit 25' and 50'. I think I'll do the 25'. The aquarium isn't to far from the sink.

Bengals are great cats. They are domestics or at least my cats kittens will be as she is technically still a hybrid (3rd generation removed though). Wonderful cats and incredibly exotic. She walk on a leash too! No training...
