I am planning on getting a 100 gallon tank. any sugestions on a filter system for it. also what type of heater would be good.

I would like to get a few bala sharks i was thinking about three. eventually i wanted to add about ten tiger barbs and about ten zebra danios. are these fish ok to put with the bala. if not what are some sugestions to add to the tank.

Im having trouble on deciding what kind of design i should put in it to go along with the bala sharks. what do they like to have in a tank.

A 100g is effectively an indoor pond. You would be looking therefore at pond filtration, and possibly a pond heater also. :good: I haven't kept ponds for many years, so I don't realy know the gear available at the moment. That size tank is on the booder of being cheaper to heat with gas, if I remember rightly, so something to consider. Gas instalations for heating tanks can be expencive though...

Balas should be OK, but remember that they can swim through pains of glass. Anything under 1 inch thick is at risk if they are startled and swim into it IMO. Acrilic would be my material of choise for a tank like this. It's stronger, compaired to glass of a similar thickness, and will flex a little more before breaking. The balas will love the tiger barbs and danios....... As a light snack  They have large mouths, so anything under 6 inches is at risk. Also, what are your planed dimentions? I'm shure since your doing your research :good: that you are aware that they grow to 18inches potentialy, and thus will need a wide thank. 3foot wideth minimum, though you may require a wider one if possible.

You don't want pond filtration, you want a very big external filter (or two little ones.) You'd be after something like a fluval 405 or FX5. If you wanted two then something like 2 205s or 305s. FX5 would be best though I think.

I initially thought tiger barbs and zebra danios would be perfect but i'm not sure about the bala sharks mouths.

I don't get how a bala shark will shatter glass unless it's super thin... The tank wouldn't need to be 3' wide 2' or less would be ok.

Stocking sounds fine :) you could easily get quite a few more fish in there, as stated 1 large external or 2 smaller ones will be sufficient.
