Hey technium, long time no see!

it's eitherm Leiarius Marmoratus or Perrunichthys Perruno, although if it was free more like the marmoratus though.

thanks everyone.

Hey Paul, good to see your still here mate.

Looking at the two suggestions on google and pics the fish looks really more like the Perrunichthys Perruno although I could be wrong. Are these fish expensive is that why you thought it could be the other fish?

Its a juvinile Leiarius longibarbus, when young their markings look very similar to perrunos but fade out as they mature. Perrunos are so rare some people think they may never have even been imported into the UK.

Having just checked this one out then Im sure this is the one, but they do look so similar to the perruno cats. I knew you lot would be able to help, still got the same great class of members I see.

thanks again.

tank is 8 x 2 x 2 and will be upgraded to 8 x 3 x 2 within 6 Months.

Tank mates are as follows

20" Leiarius Pictus
24" Psuedodoras Niger or African Catfish?
12" this new one :)

thats it, other tank is 6 x 2 x 2 and houses a 22" Red Snakehead

Im not an expert in the area of HUGE fish but will the 8x3x2 be big enought as the fish reaches 32". :) Just wondering

There is a huge chance that you are going to have serious problems bewteen the 2 Liearius species as the longibarbus grows, Liearius are solitary fish and dont appreciate others of their own kind or even similar looking fish in the same tank, the future looks very wet for your carpets

Dont you just love tankbusting catfish?

well he (or she?) is gorgeous  , and good luck with him (lets just say its a 'he' for now), be sure to let us know how he gets on! :good:
