Hey i just found this website and its brilliant i have my new tank coming in a few weeks of one of my Friends for about 40 pounds it is like 200L so its really cheap he isn't selling it with a filter or heater so i was going to get a fluval 204 or 304 seeing as it is around a 50 gal tank but i don't really know much about what goes in the media chambers can somebody give me some advice on what to do with this and also som advice on what to plant in the tank.

First off, hi and welcome to the forum. :hi:

If it is a 4' long tank which I imagine it is, I would suggest getting 2 filters and 2 heaters (Each rated for something over half the tank capacity, say for 30 gallons). One set on each end. You will get much better water circulation and much more consistant temperatures. If you only have one heater in the middle, the water around it could easily be 2 to 4 degrees warmer than the extremities of the tank.

I personally am running 2 fluval 304s and 2 hydor inline heaters on my 75 gallon and I have had no problems what so ever with it.

yes i can see what your are saying i think i will buy a 204 to start and get another after chrismas (bit short for cash) but with the heaters i could just put a thermometer as far away from the heater as posibble to chek the temperature around the tank is a reliable heat
