When I woke up this morning my elephant nose just drifted around in his tank. If you touch him he swims sideways and then just lies on the bottom of the tank again. I'm pretty new to this hobby so I have no idea what to do. All the other fish looks fine.

I do 25 % water changes about every 2 weeks

I have about a 70l tank with 2 albino sharks, 2 rainbow sharks, 2 dwarf gouramis, 1 plecostomus, 1 elephant nose and a snail

Ph - 6.8
Ammonia levels - 0mg\l
Water temp - 26 C

Any help will be welcome.

Thanx

The tanks way overstocked if its only a 70 litre tank, so can't believe for one minute that the ammonia reading is 0.
The sharks alone need a 40 gallon.
The sharks shouldn't be kept together.
Immediate water change, and increase aeration in the tank.
Do you have a nitrite, nitrate reading.

Hey - what do you test the water with ? Strips or liquid test ?
As wilder asked, what are you Nitrite and Nitrate readings ?

If I were you, I would do a 25% water change asap, make sure you DONT clean your filters either.

The ammonia reading is 0.
I use tetra test liquid testing kit.

That dosn't mean anything without the nitrite, nitrate reading.
Your tank size is to small for the sharks, elephant nose.
I would do a water change and get your water tested.

Had a quick check. You certainly could do with rehoming the sharks, the tanks far too small.
The elephants noses like groups of 3-5 and can grow to 3-4 inches and like large open spaces as they use electrics for find stuff...so google says :p

The common black plec can also grow to 1ft long, but if its only small or maybe another type it might be OK.

As wilders asked, really need an Nitrite and Nitrate reading.

Not trying to be unhelpful, just trying to save you the heartache later when you have more problems.

Sorry I'm I sounding bad tempered, got cold.
Don't mean to sound harsh but without water stats which is the first thing to look at when fish are ill, its hard to say as the bad water quality will make them ill.

Ok I will get testing kits for nitrit and nitrate and let you know about the readings.

I did a 25% water change so I will just see what happens.

So there is nothing else I can do at this stage

With a tank being overstocked and not stocked right, to be honest its a disastor waiting to happen.
You could get your water tested at the lfs while you buy the liquid test kits.
Also see if the lfs will take the sharks, elephant nose, the plec off your hands.

My elephent nose was probably 10+ inches, and i had to get rid as he was outgrowing the 50gal...
