I hate to say this, but i still suck at caring for bettas. I've done everything: water changes, clean out the tanks to make sure they're in clean, conditioned water, got medications, betta food...etc.

But now there's an epidemic of Ich over all my fish except two (and i suspect they're getting it, and i have no clue how this is possible! THEY ALL have it! One died two days ago. I read and read and read on line all the procedures tips and tricks from adding salt to raising the temp and dimming the tank, all to try and kill the parasite, but it's still there, and the medicine seems to do squat! I even went out to find a better brand, and even that makes no difference.

I'm aware these fish are all probably going to die on me, and then I'd have to start all over again. Shipping costs are going to be high, but I'm stubborn as hell to get this right at least the second time around. so I'm ordering what I need on line. This is where i Need your help: I want to purchase the following:

1) Ich medicine, but one that really worked with your fish!!!!!!!!!!! not just blue liquid that does squat!
2)PH/Ammonia tester & conditioners
3) Other meds bettas need

ANYTHING else you feel has made your fish strong, healthy and happy. I'd really appreciate the feedback and if possible links to where I may purchase those brands.

Hi,

One thing to always have around, is either melafix or bettafix (i personally use melafix)

A couple of things I have found that work well with Ich is Coppersafe by Mardel

There is also Maracyn (scroll down) by Mardel, but check those out, because they also have Maracyn II.

Also a good thing to put into the water is aquarium salt and Aquarisol You may also want to get an aeration stone, or bubble stone, when treating in the tanks, just make sure it isn't going to knock the fish around lol.

You can find a lot of this stuff at your pet store, alogn with the testing kits, I prefer the liquid tester kits as opposed to the strip ones.

If you continually have problems with your fish it might be due to the water quality, I know living in the country our water is very very hard, you may want to use a water conditioner, I use aqua plus

You can kill the life cycle of ich by raising the water temp to about 80 to 82. If you are keeping them say at 72 you raise it slowly about 2 degrees everyday. Keep it at that temp for about 5 days then slowly lower it to the regular temperature. I use aquarium salt and raising the temp with ich, I have other medications just incase but have never had to use them. Any sudden temperature change will stress the fish and make it weaker.
