I recently noticed some of the scales on my pleco turning white at the end of his body just before his tailfin. then i saw the same white scale discoleration at the end of his pectoral fins. this white scale blotches grows larger and it appears to be reddish as if it is an open wound.yesterday i saw a small patch on my jack dempseys tailfin. im very worried ive had both these fish for almost 5 years now. please help identify the problem and how to fix it. thanx

It sounds bacterial any signs of flicking and rubbing.
Ulcers are pink or red with a white circling of dead skin around the edges, you can get sores the other way round with bacterial infections.
White on the edges of fins is bacterial finrot, so you have secondary bacterial infections.
Maracyn one and two, or maracyn plus.
Do the blotches look bleached out or fluffy looking.
