Need Help Please, With The Fish Breed And Variety

hi all

Need HELP please, with the fish breed and variety.

I buy 4 fish from the shop, i was told then that what i was sold is 1x male and 3 female now i find out from a friend i have 2x male 2x female is this correct?.

2 and 4 seem to be flirting a lot.

Number 1 keeps chasing number 3 continuosly i dont know if this is normal or a sign that something is wrong.

Help i have already recieved on another forum is below identifying my fish below are these the correct names?.

I am begginng to feel that the fish shop has stitched me up as they realised i was relying on them fo their expertise.

I think the first one is a Redtop Zebra Male, and the 3 one is a Redtop Female!!

The 1st fish is definitely a male Greshakei

The 2nd is either an M.Callainos male or Estherae male

3rd and 4th are again either Callainos or Estherae but both are females

Is it me or does the 2nd fish have a sunken belly?

Is that right?

Another question if i want to breed these fish will i only be able to keep 2 or will they all live together ok?
Also which 2 do you think it might be best to try and pair if i can only keep 2 .

( the comment regsrds number 2 fish do you mean the fish has a odd shaped belly).

First of all what sized tank do you have them in?

All of the fish should be fine together, however you need to add more females of both species. Mbuna are harem breeders meaning a male will mate with as many females as he can find, even if the female doesn't want to breed. Generally you should go for 3 females for every male so that a single female isn't always being pushed to breed, when kept in pairs, the females will almost always be stressed and bullied by the male. And if she isn't ready to breed, or is holding, it isn't uncommon for the male to bully her to death.
