Need Help Picking Out A Algae Eater

i dont see why you guys say otos are hard to keep. they seem pretty easy to keep, they just have a chance of dying in the first few days because they werent fed on the trip to the lfs so the bacteria in their stomach die off, and they cant digest fast enough to keep them alive

Use snails... they have helped me in a similar situation but remember... snails are bisexual , and as soon as you get one in, you will be infested... i probably remove like 5 every day. :S

Not all snails are bisexual, if you google around you should be able to find something appropriate. Or shrimps (check that they eat brown algae though; they may not). You may also want to epxeriment with the light; I believe brown algae can be caused by not enough light.

personaly i don't think otos r hard to keep i have 5 in a 55gal. and have never had a problem with alge after i got them. Plus they r very fun to watch and r not afraid of people.

Otos have flatter heads than CAE's - IMO

agreed. never had probs with mine. i have had a few drop every now and then but nothin big. you should be fine getting 2-3 for your 10 gal. once the algea is gone be sure to drop in a piece of zucinni every night. btw my apple snail doesnt eat algea.
