My more recent additions to my tank, the male guppies, are not doing very well at all, im trying to get a good number in there, however i cannot stock without problems, no where to go other than pets at home..

One guppy after feeding last night, was gliding upside down and just letting the current take him, not moving his fins but twitching.

A couple of also newer additions are clinging to the surface and not acting like their former selves.

Male platy also a few addition is sitting on the bottom hiding away for a long period of time.

All of these fish have been brought between 2-3 weeks ago.

Im worried - :-( Is it me ? or the places i am getting them from... as the guppies seem fine in the first week then some weaken and change behaviour and have illness traits, whereas my older male guppies which went through a 30 min transfer of homes (to where i am living now) are all fine and healthy.

Please help, im disheartened to have problems again, all i want is to have a simple life with a bunch of nice looking platies and guppies. Especially after the effort of the move ! Desperate to get it right! I feel such a novice. i have had this tank for two years ! Dont feel like im progressing or doing very well if my fish are dying.

Test your water for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate, pH and post the results. We can help you more once we know that.

I have tested in the past with the API waterdropper kits, will have to buy on ebay. but for now what should i do?

Had the water tested at pets at home, they use the api kits too, and always say my water is "fine"

Do a 50% water change every day for a week, don't feed and then see how they look.

Good luck; I hope they improve.

Just an update, forgot to mention.

The blue male guppy was dead this morning.

A male red platy who was looking lethargic was found dead at 6 30pm

Is your filter pumping ok?

How are the water changes going?

Did you get a test kit and test the water? Need some rseults fast.

2 more guppies (new) have died, when ive only had them just over a week...
No visible signs of disease, although one looked rather big around the stomach, had a close look and definatly not dropsy or anything..

The filters good and well, been squeezed recently (in tank water :good: ) the current seems fine, im running a fluval 3 plus

Im bidding on a test kit, hope it wins ! i will definatly get one as they last a year at least.

The water changes are tiresome, but worth it if i see some results.
:look:
