Hi!

I used to have pair of kribensis, and they mated, lay eggs and the fry hatched. But a after a while the male started eating the fry so the mother turned against him and he killed her... He also started to kill or eat (
if we could) other fish in the aquarium.
Now i have him, three other fish i caught in the local creek (even though they aren't tropical fishes they do well in my temperature and five shrimps, and now he doesn't harm them, but he does look depressed, he doesn't even chase the larvae i put i the tank like he used to, he just sits in a corner and eats occasionally.
So i would like to know your opinions on why this happened, and should i try getting another female?

I would either rehome he kribensis and get a new mated pair, and make sure they have proper hiding places to raise their young in order to lower aggression amongst themselves and the other fish, thats the only reason i can think of that the male krib would eat the babies because he was stressed. Catching fish and putting them in your tank is a BAD idea, they can carry unknown parasites or other diseases dangerous to your fish, you also dont know if their aggressive or not towards other tank mates. I wouldnt get another female rather another mated pair, you could try buying a female krib larger than the male but he sounds incredibly aggressive.
