I have taken some gravel out of my current tank to put in my new tank.

The only problem is it has some snails in.

I want to try and get rid of them while i have the chance.

Apart from picking them out, which would take ages (I have lots of gravel), I have no idea how to do this.

Any suggestions?

Tanks in advance.

Hi. Well i've never had snails before, but i believe there are medications that will kill snails that you could use. Also, i've heard that if you put a piece of cucumber in the tank after dark and leave it for a while, the snails will congregate on it. By this time you can flick the light on and lift out the cucumber, snails and all. If you don't want to do either of those things then i'd try putting really hot or cold water or something to try to kill them off. Maybe put the whole bag of gravel in the freezer or something.
Good luck... maybe others who've had your problem will chime in soon.

I'd buy new gravel. Gravel isn't very expensive, and it saves you lots of time and effort. Besides, what happens if you missed one snail? You'd have the population problem all over again.
