Im looking to go low tech lighting and that means the stock bulb (17W) is a goner. My aquarium is a 36 gallon Aqueon Bowfront. The light housing is 30" across, however the bulb is only 24". The glass opening is 4" wide.

I'm looking for either of the following:

A) A 24" bulb that puts out at least 36 Watts (even all the T5's I look at are 24 Watts max at that length) or. .

B) A 30" lighting system that is only 4" wide that puts out at least 36 Watts. I haven't been able to find one that is 30" x 4" in a good amount of looking.

C) An all glass canopy so that I have a lot more choices. 36" bowfront canopy made of all glass appears impossible to find, however.

Anyone have any suggestions or any other ideas? FYI the tank is considered 30" x 15" x 21" even though the hood shape is funky since it is a bowfront.

EDIT: FYI this is for a tropical freshwater tank with low light requirement / non CO2 plants

Anyone have or used this before?

It's only 4.25" in width which would probably work

Well, if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Thank you!

Using the 17W bulb would have been low tech. Really low tech. But it would have still worked. Growth would just be really, really slow.

IMO, that's pushing you out of low tech now. You're not going to want anything over 36W.

Could you not attach another t8 bulb via reflecter connecters to the stock bulb?
See here. Scroll down to post #17

So easy plants like Java Moss, Crypts, Anubias, etc would grow alright with 0.5WPG and no CO2? I could definitely throw some Seachem Flourish in there.

Correct, just very slowly.
A nutrient substrate is advised in low tech tanks, just as a back up for nutrients. But most if not all macro nutrients will be supplied by the fish. Trace elements (the contents of the Seachem Flourish) maybe only need to be added every month or so, maybe not at all. Observe and act accordingly.
If you do any water changes, then its best to do them after the photoperiod (when the lights shot off for that day) as this will prevent CO2 swings from causing algae.
You could get away with one water change a year. Obviously top up any water than may have evaporated.
