Need Help Finding Out Whats On Side Of Tank

i have a 55 gallon cichlid tank but it constantly get algea what sould i do? thats not my main problem on the side of the tank there is this slimy white stuff that i dont no what it is the chiclids and pleco seem fine but its annoying and i dont want it to become harmful. im sorry im not more decriptive or have pictures but pics wont show up and it really hard to describe.


82-83 degrees
have 2 50 gallon filters 10 3-5 inch african cichlids
1 bristlenose pleco
crushed coral sand fake plants and honycomb rocks plz help!
 
i think i know what you're talking about. when i first set up my tank, for the first month or so i got it all around the filter piping in the tank, but after a while it just went away

hmm, i had this, not nice at all, sort of squigged around with the magnet cleaner, what i did was when i did a water change i used a non scratch glass cleaning scourer, and washed all the inside of the tank, and rinsed as i refiled the tank, had to do it a few times, but it works in the short term, maybe as u dont say it is from a new tank set up as this is what i suspect mine is from
