i just found my yellow boxfish (2cm cubed) stuck to a powerhead in my tank. I was out for the last 24 hours so no idea on how long he has been there.

his left hand fin is damaged and not moving, and his left hand eye is swollen (white tissue damage showing) but is moving.

i have moved him to a bucket with piece of rock and heater. i do have a powerhead turned on lowest setting but he cannot swim, so i had to turn it off.

i am 2 months new to fishkeeping, please, any help would be greatly aprechaited :(

alex.

update, he is now back in display tank with only the spray bar creating any current. all powerheads are off.

i thought its going to stress the fish out less in normal environment?

I have the external filter running, the spray bar is creating alot of movement still. the coral is swaying, and you can see the particles in the water flowing around fast just as before. the humbugs in the tank are being pushed about by the lower current also, would this be ok for a day or two to let the boxfish calm down?

uhhh how on earth did the poor lil fella stop himself blowing a big one after all that stress? just thought id add in case you werent aware, box fish have a form of tetradotoxin found in other marine life like blue right and puffers which is deadly to your other fish and also you. they will expell this after being stressed and inflating! just thought id make sure u were aware of this facter as it could be very dangerous if u werent. one blow up and ur whole tank will die. sry may be being rude here haha but just thought id bring it up as your only 2 months into aquariuming and not sure of your knowledge, kudo's though on him not freaking out so fare though lol
