my 20 gal tank is planted and my 3 bettas in it seem to have ich. nothing else except my farlowella (spelling). i have 6 amano shrimp in the tank and am worried that if i dose the 10 ml of rid ich it could hurt them. i do have carbon on hand but do i put the carbon in the filter when i dose? or dose then put the carbon in later? also what about water changes? what needs to be done when?

i also am raising the temp to about 81 F, MAYBE a little higher, unsure yet.

ive worked with rid ich before but never with inverts...thanks guys!

What are the ingredient to it, any traces of copper? If so, then no you cant use it with shrimps. You will need to remove them from the tank whilst dosing.

Carbon should be removed whilst dosing, as it removes medication.

I would do a 30% w/c prior to dosage, then follow the instructions on the medication itself, it will tell you whether you should w/c in the medication time frame. Once the course is finished, then you can run carbon to remove the medication.

Raise the temp to above 80 slowly, it will speed up the cycle of the ich parasite, its once the parasite has dropped off the fish that it is vulnerable to medication, it then usually has only a few hours to find another host fish, so thats the best time to be medicating.
