Hi,
I just got back from work and I'm assigned a temporarty mission away from my home ( anfd fish) for 2 weeks .
My real concern is about my water changes....I have a timer for the light control, I'll get someone to replace the food cone during my absence, but there's no way I'll let somebody else handle the water changes...And anyways nobody knows anything about aquariums and Fish in my relation..I'm planning on renewing as much water as I can before leaving but my new 20 gal. tank is still cycling so I'm still wondering what to do or what not to do ( I have a bio-wheel system for filter so I'm not too worry about filtration either).

Any valid suggestion is highly appreciated.
Thanks.

P.S : I think I'm suffering from the "newbie/addict syndrom".....Browsing this forum 25 times a day......can it be harmful at certain extent ?? :)

I,m sorry to insist but the clock is ticking and I<m still facing the problem....I<ve been told that it should not be a big deal and everything should be find without replacing the water for 2 weeks ( I got VERY suspicious when the person added "it worked for me....." considering what I read on this forum....)

If it's the 20 with the danios & platys, I wouldn't worry about water changes. I also would not use any sort of feeding block or cone, they are known for polluting the water.

Adult fish can go for 2 weeks without being fed. Make sure they are well-conditioned adults, do a large water change before leaving. If someone can come over to replace whatever cone you are talking about, they can toss in a healthy pinch of food. If they come over once, that means they are only going for a week unfed.

Less food means less waste produced, this means cleaner water. Fish in the wild live on the edge of starvation; a week unfed is a normal occurrence.

i agree do a water change before you go and what i do is add a bunch of live tubeflex worms to the gravel to make them hunt. You do want to make sure the worms are in great shape and healthy. If not have a friend drop by every 5 days and put a pinch of food in and make sure theres no floaties. Also premesure out a pinch so they have a reference to how much to put in.

Thank you very much. I did not know that these cones were bad for the fish....why do they sell them then ^^^^( business and passion the worst combo ever)
