well i got all my new plants and replanted by removivg all fish and replanting. first i noticed all my fish at top gasping so i rushed in an air pump for now and i noticed my co2 not bubbling yet. when i opened it to see if all was ok water came running out. i dont have a check valve anyideas. does it sound like a co2 problem? i just got off the phone with aquabotanics and they say the weight is okay to plant but im removing mine i left two on just in case. anyother ideas. thanks. i gotta check on my fishies. where can i get a check valve?

okay i was lookin at the co2 ladders last night to see if it started reacting and no bubbles at bedtime i git up and wanted to check out my landscaping only to find everyone gasping at the top and one rummynose gone. then i checked the co2 because no bubbles still i unscrewed the top of one canister and water came running out of the cap whith the tube still on. neither was reacting. i dont hob no room so the canisters are under the tank.

The first thing i would do is try to find the reason for the fish gasping for breath. Keep the air pump going for now and do a partial water change, see how that goes.
If you have no bubblescoming into your diffuser it sounds like you haven't done the mixes right.
Make sure you dont use hot water on the yeast as it will kill it, the water needs to be luke warm.
I use a little hot water on the sugar to disolve it then top it up with cold water, then add the stabliser and yeast.
I would recomend a check valve, they are cheap as chips , make sure you put them as near to the tank as poss (saves trying o clean them out as much trust me  )

okay things have calmed a little now everyone seems to be breathing well again and my desperation subsiding heres what i did yesterday

removed fish
removed and saved most water
rinsed and added laterite under sand for new plants
re-scaped
added 2nd co2 ladded
replaced fish and water
raised water level to just under hob spillway to reduce surface aggitation for co2.
do you think it may have been too close reducing oxygen levels to the fish since there was little surface aggitation?
also thanks RYO i made sure the water was lukewarm. i read too hot will kill the mixture. and do you think it is okay to have my reactor below the tank? the first bottle seemed to work just fine.
RYO your tank looks amazing

sorry i woulda posted in the tropical emergencies forum but i thought it might be due to my plant set up so i came running with my tail between my legs here first. :)

lol cheers- both my reactors are under tank , ive had no probs as yet, glad youve got everything sorted.
