We have a community tank with platies (pregnant), harlequin rasboras, and soon to be kuhli loaches, and just maybe a dwarf gourami. Temp is 76 or so, very neutral water.

What plants are extremely easy to take care of and last a long time, while providing ample cover for our fishies?

Thanks!

Corkscrew Valiscernia and Hornwort have worked out great in our planted community tank (although they are still filling in)

Camboba has done well also, although it seems to break apart very easily :/

I bought some Cabomba last week ,planted it and it preceded to fall apart, i pulled the clump up and put a plant lead around the pieces that were left, and just dropped it in the tank without planting it in the Gravel. I noticed yesterday that there were roots forming at the bottom of the stems.

my dwarf gourami loves to dig up plants and generally re-arrange so i'd go for tough and unpalatable so if you do get a gourami he/she won't eat it!

if you're in the UK you can mail order plants from greenline:

lots of lovely plants and he's cheap! he also does start up packs too if you're not sure what you're doing.
(i'm not getting commission honest, i just think they're great!) He might mail abroad too, i'm not sure .

MICROSORIUM WINDELOV - my favourite plant at the minute
CRYPTOCORYNE LUCEN - also pretty good
GYMNOCORONIS SPILANTHOIDES VARIGATED Pink & White Form - really lovely

i'm going to stop before I get carried away.
One last thing -Elodea is bad in hard water with low light - mine just dies.

amazon sword will do well aswell as java fern, vallis, horwort will thrive in any tank. many forms of hygrophillia are very hardy too.
