I currently have a 75 gal tank running and i was wondering what some thoughts were on adding some new fish to the mix, first ill descride the tank, its aprox 70 -75 gal running with a hagen 120 filter (i think thats what its called) the decor includes large fake plants and some drift wood along with some planted tanks and is stocked with the following:
4 white clouds, 2 ballon mollies, 2 sunset platies, 3 silver tetras, 3 lemon tetras, 3 bleeding heart tetras, one greenspotted pleco and 11 platy fry (soon to be moved to another tank)
Now my question is do you think that a few angel fish could fit into this mix i love the fish but understand they might not mix with some fish that enjoy fin nipping, also in the angels dont fit then i would like to try a couple dwarf gourami's, and again if that doesn't work any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Darkerwhite2,

I certainly think that you could put some more fish in the tank, based upon your descriptions and assuming that you know what you are doing in the areas of water changes and all that maintenance type stuff. I definetly think you should get those fry out of the tank or at least into a breeder's net asap, but they most likely can hide pretty well in some dense fake plants. I would also either warn or congratulate you on the fry because you most likely have more to come soon as one female molly can have fry up to seven (I think I remember that right) times from one mating with a male!

I would probrably caution you on the angel fish as like you said, they are not good to be around fish with a 'nipping' habit, but they are also known to become pretty darn mean and aggressive later on in their adult life. I have heard many stories about people keeping guppies and angels together for a long time until the angels get mean and nasty, resulting in a few dead guppies. With some of your smaller fish, this may be a problem for you as well.

The gouramis, I will have to leave up to someone else to tell you about as I have no experience with them farther than my childhood tank that my dad ran and got frustrated with all the time (he still tries to talk me out of keeping my tanks because of his 'bad experiences" with fish). I am sorry I couldnt help you out more!

sorry i ment to say the fry are in two diffrent breeding traps because they are from 2 diff births and they will be gettting there own fully planted 15 gal tanksoon. and ya im aware of the angels getting aggressive during breeding but i am more worried about them than the other fish as most of the are tetras and as i understand they can get quite nippy. thanks for the input though it has been a help to aid my desicion
