I just set up a 72 gallon tank and all it has in it right now is an 8" Oscar. The tank is already starting to show signs of algae on the glass and a bit on the gravel. The tank will become host to some of the nice S/A Cichlids including the Oscar (he doesnt eat fish). What kind of algae eater is best suited for this. I was thinking maybe a flying fox because they can eat food scraps too. What are your suggestions?

Scrubbing it down yourself will do it better than any algae eater IMO. Besides with Oscars, and their attitude and appetite, the only thing I would suggest is a Pleco that'll grow a decent size.

I keep a common pleco with my oscar. They get along pretty well.

I agree. Plecos, for the most part, can hold their own. I had a pleco that used to attack my piranha....looked like he was having a great time as well. :D
Sailfin or common are my suggestions.
