Hi
I'm about to buy a 220 gallon tank that comes with fishes (many are big). I think there are too many fishes in this tank including one turtle. Some fishes I know the name and some I don't. The ones I know are:
-one almost two feet long silver arowana
-one one and a half feet long royal crown knife
-one turtle
-three or four oscar (one big albino tiger)
-one one foot long cat fish
-one jack ram

I need your advise on what to keep with what and what to get rid of. I personally want to get rid of the catfish and another bottom feeder (almost two feet long) and the turtle. If I get rid of these three, will the rest stay together peacefully and happily? The current owner told me that they are all doing fine together but I still think it is over populated.
Thanks for any input.

Please use the link below to look at the pictures of those fishes in the tank. (I don't know if this is the right way to attach picture though, this is the first time for me.)

Agreed they are some stunning fish

I would get rid of the 2 flowerhorns and the midas,Then i would keep an eye on the jaguar cichlids,if you dont like aggresstion maybe think of rehoming now.. the terripin and the Oxydoras niger catfish as you dont like them, but i just love them...so id prob keep it and the other catfish is stunning, they are harmless....

may think about upping the filteration, as it looks cloudy but they are some stunning fish, and a great size tank

The current owner is using two Fluval FX5. I don't know why the water is still cloudy. I think she does not put enought gravel and maybe overfeed them. She told me she fed them with cooked shrimp and worm.

two fx5's should be ok as long as waterchanges were<are>kept on top off and feed correctly, yes i would be inclined to have gravel aswell, bare bottoms are much easier to clean as long as they take the time to clean them....send the oxy niger to me :hey:

Hi again,
Could you please help me? I don't really know which ones are 2 flowerhorns and the midas. And the other catfish..

ok here the green with red is the flowerhorn x2 / the peachish one is the midas next to the (black catfish aka ripsaw,Oxydoras niger catfish )
behind the flowerhorn is a severum and dissapearing at the top is a jack dempsey, then you have the oscar

Iam glad iam not you as there are some stunning fish to choose to keep there,

what is the actual measurments of this tank?

the turtle needs a 10.0 uvb light for shell growth and shedding and a heatlamp to completly dry off and to aid scooting (shedding) and nooo gravel as they eat it and that causes impaction deadly for turtles just to let you know mate

im liking your arowana and turtle can i have them lol hehe

i agree with nelly

She told me it's 220 Gallon. I measure it 72"x 24"x30". Since you all said that they are stunning fishes, I decided to buy another 185 gallon tank to accommodate all these fishes. Now if I am going to have two fish tanks, could you choose which one should stay together?
Thanks.

2 flowerhorns -midas-jaguar cichlids-clown knifefish-arowana-Oxydoras niger <for the 220g>

severum - jack dempsey-oscars-perruno catfish-<the new tank

Think that's all of the correct me if iam wrong.....

It will be a case of trail and error.....with the cichlids aggrestion but the top list are the aggressive ones all suited to aggresstion....Hopefully the oscars/sev/dempsey are matched for aggresstion but as cichlids go you have to try and watch....

the problem is how big the perruno and Oxydoras niger get as they really need a 3ft width to turn so if they look cramped you may have to rehome anyhow..
