i have 4 harlequins 3 female fighters 1 dwarf gourami 60 odd liters all stats are fine and dandy

one fish got finrot and i took back to pet store they said it had finrot they gave me the treatment for free and they said i should treat my tank for finrot with "interpet anti fungus and finrot"

treatment says take out carbon and zeolite filter media, any advice appreciated thanks.

Flip open the filter and take out the two kidney bean shaped cages. They're horrifically tricky to get out - long nails help! I sometimes have to put scissors in there to pry them out!

Yes, remove them, but be careful. The bacteria that have developed live in those and you want to preserve them. The problem with the Elite stingray filters is that they use a blend of carbon and zeolite. What the zeolite does is adsorbs the ammonia before your bacteria have a chance to process it. These are not the best filters to use for a healthy tank. You might find that buying a new filter like a good quality HOB or internal will better serve you in the long run.
