Hi everyone! Great and informative forum. I have a new 29 gallon tank that is ready for fish. This is not my first tank, although it has been awhile since I set up a new one from scratch. I have small tanks with small fish and for this tank, I would like to buy some fish that start small and will grow. I would like to have fish that are medium to large in size in it. I wasw thinking of angels or discus. I've had oscars and jack demspeys. I do not want to go that route again. I have planted ten live plants in the tank and want to keep it natural looking. Can anyone give me some good suggestions on a couple good fish to start with? All suggestions and advice will be appreciated!!!! Thanks!!!

Just to be sure, when you say "ready for fish", do you mean you cycled the filter by (potentially, seeding it from an existing filter and) adding an ammonia source to the water?

I can definitely give you lots of good suggestions, but the dimensions of the tank, decors (especially substrate) and the water parameter information would help a lot ;)

29 Gal (about 100L in british? :D ) isn't a particularly big tank, and far too small for discus I believe. Depending on the dimensions of the tank you MIGHT fit an angel in, but as KittyKat says, if you let us know a bit more about the tank we can give you clearer answers.

For some reason I read that as "wasn't". +1 a 29 gallon is much too small for angels and discus. The thing about large fish is that they need large aquariums.
