ok so i just picked up Fluval Roma 90L. It came with the Fluval 2 Plus internal filter. My original thought was that my light source wouldnt be very high, and im new at aquatic plants, so going low light, no CO2, would be best. that was before i got this tank. this tank has 2 15w T8's. Tell me if this is still low light, as im not sure. I would assume it is. I would rather not worry about CO2 untill i have more time under my belt. ok

second question. this dinky little Fluval 2 Plus filter, doesnt seem to have much power, or create much flow. Im under the impression flow is quite an important thing in heavily planted tanks. so i hear u guys talking about powerheads, these are just internal small pumps that push water around right? Could I get one to help the flow? Would it just be better for me to get a new filter? Any suggestions ?

All thoughts and comments are welcome! Thanks in advance guys! I look forward to becoming a part of this forum!

well no answers from anyone
ive figured out my tank has like 1.2WPG or something along those lines, so this will be a low light set up. Still waiting to hear if you guys would suggest me getting an addition powerhead, or a whole new filter all together.

I couldnt help myself and I did the "chuck it in" method with some plants today, along with getting silver sand. (soft)

i really want to get a moss wall going, do i need to have more light for it to grow properly? I would guess it will just be slow going :)

I'd say it was low/medium light. Either way, you should get away without CO2.
I personally would have a powerhead although it's not strictly necassary. Something like a Hydor Koralia Nano 900litres per hour would do.
Plant it up heavily. You could just go with one of those plant selection bundles to start with. Maybe add some Tropica capsules into the substrate just in case.
Perform your water changes when the tank lights are off. So, wait until they go off at the end of the day. Keep them at 7hours on a timer.
That's pretty much it. Once fully stocked with fish, they should produce enough ferts for the plants.

thanks a ton RadaR, those are the kind of things i wanted to know. I see the Nano 900 is pretty cheap so I think Ill probably go that route. Im curious about ferts and stuff, and if those capsules or sticks that I can put in the soil will help, that would be great, im sure it cant hurt. Ill need to find out more info on those.

A Christmas Moss wall would look great in the Roma 90. All the Roma series tanks have pretty much the same WPG and Christmas moss does really well in mine.

That sounds great. Ill try and get my hands on some christmas moss, I prefer the way it looks anyways! What kind of filter do you have running on your Roma? Im really still debating if should get a powerhead, or just a new filter all together to help with flow.

Mine is a Roma 200 so I've got a big external from Allpondsolutions and a Koralia 1 for additional flow.
