My friend was over last night, he owns a couple fish tanks and said "WOW you have to much algae, you should get some king of pleco." I noticed myself I do have to much. I need a stronger algae fighting team. I was thinking of getting ethier 3 more otos or a small pleco, and maybe a couple of ghst shrimp. My current stock is
6 zenra danios
3 clown loaches
3 cockatoo cichlids
2 blue rams
3 otos
I know the clowns need a bigger tank they are getting one later this year. Can I add what a want to?

 Time is running out. What about a flying fox or SAE I would rather have them, but they do get ratherr larger then what I was thinking.

20? Wow you're overstocked as it is.

Get a algae scraper and do it yourself.

Im too lazy with the one I have now, its cheap and its like washing dishes, expect its a fishtank glass. As for stock I know, thats why the clowns are getting a new tank, 55 or 75, sometime this year.

Well if you are going to upgrade anyway you should go for the 75 gallons since you would have to upgrade for the clown loaches even if it was a 55 gallon.

you should be thinking about getting rid of fish not getting more!if you upgrading you can wait instead of putting MORE pressure on the fish

Having fish has responsiblity. Now don't take this wrong......But if I was your father I'd be telling you to get off your butt and go clean that tank

Hi FrAnK3333 :)

You've gotten some good advice here. If the otos you have already can't keep up with the algae, you should clean it off manually and also try to stop or slow its growth.

Adding more fish to an already overstocked tank will only lead to disaster.

it doesnt really matter how many algae eating fish you have, if you have an algae problem they wont cure it, its because of one thing your tank is situated where it gets alot of natural sunlight, the chief ingrediant for the algae to form , i suggest you move your tank away from ayour window where im guessing its situated, or maybe your tank lights on most of the day and evening??

Or the tank lights may be too strong, your nitrAtes maybe are too high because you are over-stocked, you might be over-feeding, your tap's phosphates might be very high, any other plants you have may not be enough to compete with the algae or may not be fast-growing enough to have an effect or you may be slacking on water changes. Adding more fish to an over-stocked will only increase the problem - there is no place for laziness when it comes to caring for fish... Just scrape the algae of yourself every time you do a water change (just before is best as it'll make the water quite cloudy) and make sure you are keeping up with maintainance etc which will generaly reduce algae growth in itself.

of course if you don't mind the algae don't bother cleaning it off.

i don't!! i like my green background.....foreground and urm side grounds......

Lol... yeah I leave algae on the back and one side of the tank I have that has algae as my plec likes it and the other fish nibble it and I don't realy mind it myself. Plus it removes nitrAtes from the water so it's fine with me ;).
Beautiful arowana BTW.

edit: spelling :p
