I use Fluval Sky, and I feel like it's not bright enough or doesn't reach the back and front very well. I'm not sure.

I was thinking of getting one of these, but just a single head lamp. The bulb would be the full spectrum one by Sansi.

But at the same time I'm unsure if this would be any good/efficient.

I only ever used a generic bulb light once on a non-filtered jar a long time ago. I got some growth out of the saggitaria in that jar, but nothing extraordinary. It would be interesting to see what results you would get.

I use this on my 12L currently. It grows low-light plants well.

I guess it depends on how you define bright enough, and for what.
This is my 50G with a Fluval Aquasky a few minutes ago. Its 100cm wide, 40cm deep and the surface is covered over.
I am only running the light at 60% because that seems optimum for my plants and fish, and the heavily shaded part on the right hand side is intentional.

Edit: Most of my fish prefer to hang out in the dark side - which is achieved by a dense covering of frogbit. They all shot out when the saw me because they thought they were about to be fed - and the feeding hole is on the left.

I'm trying to go for red plants as well, so I would need bright light to supplement that. Guess I could try out the grow light I have and see how bright it makes the tank.

I can't really see any plants in the background.
Perhaps it feels this way as my tank is a cube?
