We want to have a plant floating in the corners of our 10 gallon (see signature!), and also want some of it hanging down, maybe half-way along the corners down toward the bottom. Click here for a bad picture of what I'm going for.

We are considering java moss. Tieing it to something that floats, but not really sure how to get it to hang down. Riccia would be nice cause it floats naturally, but again how to make it hang down.

Does anyone know of a good plant for this? Ideally we'd like to avoid using CO2. Currently the Watts/Gallon is 1.5, but not sure this matters much if it's going to be only a few inches from the flourecent tube. Minimal upkeep would be nice too. Want to keep the cost down (i.e. no fertilizers/fertilisers).

Any ideas? any suggestions would be *very* appreciated.

Hornwort would work. It floats in one of my tanks, but hangs down about halfway. It does grow like crazy though.

I have Hornwort also in my 400 litre, but as mentioned it does grow very quickly, I personally do not like the way it hangs down would prefer it just floating.

You could try LIMNOBIUM SPONGIA (AMAZON FROGBIT TROPICAL), I have added this in my 54 litre tank and it is great, the plant floats and roots hang down into tank. This does grow very quickly also.

Another option is Brazilian pennywort. Hydrocotyle leucocephala. It has longish roots with wide, round leaves. Here's a picture. I have it in my 36g and it has an effect similar to what you're going for, if I'm understanding you correctly. Great picture, by the way. The leaves are pretty widely spaced from each other, and it is a clean plant in the sense that it doesn't shed leaves and such.
