Right in the middle of cleaning a tank, the filter was blocked so I thought, I've cleaned and put it back in and it's not working at all!!! (It was blocked also) I have a filter in another tank with a pleco, it's only been there 36 hours and befroe that was in an empty tank for about 4 weeks. It WON'T be cycled, but will I go for it?? A non cycled filter is better than none, right? Anything I can do to speed up the process??

HELP!! Just about to put clean water in!

did you prime your filter with water when you turned it back on?

if you take the filter away from your pleco, then he won't have anything..... what's in this other tank?

check the propeller! mine always gets blocked whether it's with random stray cat hairs [i don't know how that happens..but my cats shed?] just keep on looking for something that could be blocking the propeller from spinning round&round&round, sometimes [if it is the propeller] i was told to cut just a little bit off the propeller as sometimes the ends are to long, i did that now i dont have a problem, but if it's not the propeller then leave it alone! ahaha good luck!

There;s 2 filters in with the pleco, the one that's been in there constant and the one I put in yesterday to cycle for energency use, didn't expect it to happen so soon!!!! I'll fill the tank up and try the original filter again, if it still doesn't work I'll have to do it, can't have them having no filter at all. I have some nitrivec, shall I add some of that?

Did you pour water into the filter to get it going again? If not and if possible, pour some dechlorinated water into the actual filter box, I have to do this all the time after water changes as I unplug them. Good luck.

God I'm so stupid. After I added some new water it started working. Panic over. I reckon the blockage was a guppy that's been MIA for a couple of days.

Well after al that the water looks filthy. I'm a woose when it comes to getting my hands dirty, so I'll need to but rubber gloves and give the sponge in the filter a good clean tomorrow, and another water change. I feel like taking all the fish out and putting them in my sparkling 2foot tank, but I don't think the inhabitants of that would be very happy.

Hope i'm not bein patronising when i remind you to use dirty/dechlorinated water for cleaning the filter sponge.......
Better safe than sorry..
