I'm looking into buying a larger tank, maybe 55 Gallon or more... but I don't want to pay loads for it.

Does anyone have any suggestions for makes/models of larger tanks that aren't cripplingly expensive?

I would shop around at thrift stores and classified ads. You can often find parts/peices/whole setups that are used for a decent price.

I got 2 of my tanks off eBay and I just got 2 second hand by advertising on aquarist-classified and in a local ad mag.

I got a 50 gallon cube with filter, heater, hood (one light included) and decor for £40.

Second hand is the best option IME. I only bought one of my tanks new and it cost a fortune compared to the rest.

I'll get out the NPL and take a look. Does the Chronicle do classifieds? I always flick straight to the sports section.

hell do what i did, i was driveing down this rich neiborhood and this guy ask if i wanted it cuz he was gonna trash it

this is my free tank

Ahhh, just noticed that you've added your location. Hello from Newcastle!!

I don't know about the chronicle I used:

Ad Trader
Ad Mag
Aquarist Classifieds

I got my tanks in no time when I put up 'wanted' ads for tanks. There are always tanks being sold but they are never very big, but I suppose it depends what you are after.

HTH :)
