I am wanting a good place to get information on goldfish in my area, so far I have just been to pets at Home, but would like to get some expert advice, I live near Ilkley, so somewhere near would be good, I need to get a bigger tank for my goldfish.

try paws for thought on york road in leeds, staff there are really good

alternativley try the quality koi company who are based somewhere like brighouse but i can't remember which village it is (helpful i know, i'll try to remember/find out)

interfish in osset are a brilliant shop, they are marine specialists however they're brilliant for giving newbies advice and i'm sure they can advise on your goldie

the pets at home shops round here are pretty pants tbh

(didn't realise you were local btw)

:good:

Thanks, I can go to the one in Ossett, as my sister in law lives in Wakefield and we often go on a saturday, I bet thats where she goes, she has a huge tropical tank, immaculate, her hubby is very good at looking after his fish, one more question, do goldfish get lonely?
the other goldie does not seem too bothered that his mate has gone! in fact he was not bothered about it at when it was sick.

goldies are fairly happy by themselves but will also be happy with company. some species of fish need to be kept in groups of certain sizes and with a set male to female ratio, i don't believe that is the case for goldies (however as I've said before i'm no goldie expert so i may be wrong)

but yeah get yourself down to interfish, it's run by a couple of old guys who used to be professional comedians, really nice blokes, funny (as you'd exoect) and always willing to take the time to talk to you. as I said they are saltwater specialists but also stock tropicals and sell tanks, equipment, medcines etc etc etc :good:

the display tanks in there are absolutley beautiful too, worth going just for a look at them!!
