i kno cichlids are pretty good algae eaters in themselves but i seem to have alot of brown algae (i think thats what it is.) growing on the rocks i have in my tank and altho ive only jus got the fish and theres only 3 so far, they dont seem too interested in it.

soooo, tommorow whilst i buy some more cichlids i was gonna get another plec or something.

i was jus wondering what my options are as the PH is quite high in my tank with the limestone and crushed coral i put in there.

i have a common plec about 4 inches, would he be ok if i moved him across to that tank and jus bought something for the tank he was in with the lower PH?

thanx in advance!

theres not much besides plecs.you could try ostis but not sure.i have 2 small plec in my 40.see signature

How big is the tank in liters or gallons because then I'll be able to tell you what kind of pleco you could get?

SamUk i am getting a BN plec for my tank 2 moz also see sig. They are apperently very good with cichlids and sor the size of our tanks they only get to 5-6" big.
If you want a plec/plecs in your tank get these IMO they will do well. I also have a growth of algea that my fish dont have interest in.

Well if you knew how many liters/gallons the tank is depending on what size it is you could get a common pleco because they deifinatly eat brown algae.

the tanks the fluval duo deep 1200 in my sig which is about 55G.

i already have a common in my 80G so i wouldnt mind a differnt plec like the BN.

How long has the tank been setup? Brown algae is common early on in a rocky mbuna setup, but almost always gives way to green algae within a few weeks.

the tank has been running with all the limestone and stuff in for about a week and a half but i actually set it all up with the crushed coral and that on xmas day.

thanx for the info but i think ill still get the BN to keep the place tidy and keep algae at bay.
