So yesterday I heard a loud pop from my 55gl FW tank. When I looked at the top rim had cracked apart and the front glass is bowing. I took out 10 gallons of water and went to buy a new 55gl (wish I could have upgraded but I can't afford all that right now). The only thing I could find was the Marineland LED Aquarium Kit 55gl. I don't want to use the filter or heater but I would really like to use the LED and hood that comes with it.

Does anyone know about these LEDs and if they would be good for my plants? I have anubais nana, swords, Ludwigia, moneywort, a few dwarf hairgrass. Would my plants still flourish under these lights? My current light is 2 daylight 54w 10000k 48" bulbs on for 12 hours a day.

I am not looking forward to transferring everything to the new tank after work tonight!

Sounds like a bit of a lucky escape that you didnt get 55 gallons of water, substrate and plants cascading out onto your floor.

I have no idea about the marineland LED kit at all but will say good luck and hope the transfer for all the tank set up from one to the other goes smotthly and to plan

How did things go with the transfer to the new tank?

Bowing glass, man, that is scary. I don't think I would have went to work until it was safely empty.

Its been a couple weeks and things went very well with the transfer. The only fish I lost was a harlequin raspora that jumped out of the net when I was putting in the new tank and went behind the tank and I couldn't get to him. All the other fish are doing well and the plants are doing well under the LEDs so I am going to keep them for a while. Thanks for the well wishes.
