Nasty Pasty Of A Blue Ram

My new male blue ram is a very nasty little boy.

When it comes to food, he is horrible.

I just fed the guppies some peas, but he wouldnt let them get near the food at all. He would dart across to them and bump them with his nose, he would also do this to his girlfriend too (whom I brought on the same day) and she was so scared she kept going grey in colour.

This behaviour went on for about 10 mins.

I thought they were supposed to be peaceful fish?

The only ones he leaves alone are the albino corys. He didnt look twice at them when they were eating the peas.

I havent seen him like this over bloodworms or anything, just peas..I didnt even know cichlids liked peas!

Has anyone else got a nasty blue ram? What can I do?

Dont feed them peas if he has some feeding aggression. Pea's arent that nutritious really, nothing can substitute sprinula. Google fish food( sprinula) and you will see some awsome websites about sprinula and why it is so much better than regular greens. Oh , sprinula really enhances pinks, oranges, blues, and reds.

Ok I will have a look.

I feed the guppies peas because on the guppy forum it said they love them, and its true. But I will look at spirulna.

try dropping 2 peas in, one either side of tank so the ram can have one, and the guppies the other.
