I am being sensible for a change, I have the chance of a few cichlids but im not sure is they are bity fish or not

Red Shoulder Cichlids

Jade Eye Cichlids (similar to T-Bar Cichlids)

Parrot Cichlids

Convict / Zebra Cichlid

which tanks it for and what else is in there?

if the red shoulder cichlids look like this...

then there severums and 1 would probably be ok in your 55g if there isnt too many other fish in there.

they grow to 8" you see and need some space.

convicts are incredibly protective when they spawn (and they will spawn) so dont get a pair of them unless you plan on housing them by themselves or with other big cichlids in a big tank (100g plus).

a male con or even 2 should be fine tho, again tank size and stock depending.

parrots are the same as sevs altho can be a bit more aggressive but same size and same size tank needed.

not sure what jade eyes are im afraid.

Jade Eye Cichlid males can reach a size of 4" and females 3". The Ph of the water should be 6.5 - 7.0 and kept at 26' ( according to the only source that I can find on the web ).

They can be kept and bred in water which has a Ph of 7.5 and a hardness of 14dGH. I would recemend slightly lower ( approx 5 - 10 dGH).

They are not that aggressive and could probably be housed in an aquarium of 85 - 100 litres when fully grown.

:good:

Jade Eyes arent bity. Theyre much much calmer than theyre convict cousins.

I got the Jade eyes and the Red Shoulder Cichlids, Problem is that I had to take them all, 5 Red Shoulder Cichlids and 6 jade eyes. They are all juviniles at the mo but once they get bigger Im going to sell the others on, If anyone is interested get your name down

Word of warning - my red shouldered sevs are knocking on 5" already. Their eventual size can be anything up to 12", and these two beggars are growing as quickly as my oscar did. I've got mine in a 180 gallon tank with other fish, you'll be needing at least a 90-100g tank for them fully grown.

Also, mine have been up for sale for weeks for a pittance, and only recently got an offer. I wouldn't hold any hopes of making a fortune on them either, I'm selling mine at £15 for the pair - and that was the best I could get, and they've got great colour.
