I've been doing some reading, and it seems to me that alot of the aquascape fans on this forum seem to chuck out the window all notion of WPG or high CO2 when it comes to small tanks. Did I understand this correctly? If yes, why?

Please explain :D My tank is a little over 10G. Does this apply to me?

They don't normally chuck out the notion of WPG on Nano tanks but for reasons I cannot explain, Nano tanks need much more WPG to be hi-light than a medium zized 30G tank.

I think the calculations are aimed at the 'average' sized tanks which are in the 20-40USG region.

In the same way larger tanks require less WPG to be high light.

They don't chuuck out the notion od high CO2. We are all after 30ppm wether it is 5 gallon or 500. This is a concentration within the water which we need for the amount of plants that are there (unless using low lighting and non CO2 methods.

I would class 10G as a Nano

I don't really see why Nano tanks are so popular at the moment, which is why I will be setting one up in October time just to show everybody how crap they can be. lol

lol I got a 10G because honestly, that was all I could afford (I'm still a student).

Do you think that with 3 WPG (I'm getting another hood) I'll have any major algae problems?

Thanks

P.S: I didn't really mean 'chuck the notion of WPG and CO2'. I guess that was a little much ;) :)

snap, I run a 10 gallon with 36w of power compact lighting and other than thread algae which is due to low co2 i have no algae problems. you'll probably find that you need to run either 2 x 2liter coke bottles to get enough co2 if you dont use pressurised :good:

interesting , i think the whole 'nano' idea really started off as a way of growing plants cheaply , and easier to maintain as well. I think its also faster the create a lush green scenary. Hairgrass or glosso takes less time to fill up (the foreground plants) .
