Going to put u a 10 gallon nano tank....i was told that i need a minimum of 10 gallons if i want fish....

I want 3 things in the tank.... 1 clown fish (like Nemo), one starfish (any ideas on what species?), and one of these things...don't know the name of it...

not the blue fish, the thing hiding under the rock...

will this work?? I'll have 10-15 lb. of live rock. I would like other things in...like the anemone like thing in the photo....can i do this with a 10 gallon nano tank?

A skunk cleaner or cleaner shrimp to be more accurate.

I think you could get away with micro stars but the larger species are going to be hard to cae for in a smaller system, unless you are going to grow them food and feed it to them, but that is out of the range of your average hobbyist.

I would stay away from anenomes. There are other corals that are gorgeous that could work, and would thrive.

XRX....I am setting up my nano too. Have you checked out nano-reef.com...very helpful forum like here. SH

hi,

i started a 12g nano 2 months ago. i love it. i've ran into alot of
problems so far, but right now its beautiful. lost a few fish, lost an
anemone (in 3 weeks), it's all worth it. if i had the money though i
would of gone with a 29gal since there are so many limits to what
you can put in a nano. good luck!

would the 3 fish i listed above be suitable for a 10g nano?

I don't think you'll have any trouble with the clown and cleaner,
but a starfish in a tank that small will cause problems.

starfish and shrimp arn't fish -_- - they are invertebrates

From what I've read the starfish is probably not best suited- they tend to be very sensitive to salinity changes, although the clown and the shrimp are suitable.

The anenome is not suitable:

HI..emerald crabs are good in the 'cleanup crew'. Anemones are a NOT a good thing. They are extremely sensitive to water conditions and almost ALLnano reefers will tell you NOT to put them in a nano reef. When they die, they can kill the entire tank. SH

ok.....starfish, not a great idea........anemone....bad idea...

are there any fish (i like the small colorful type) aside from the clown, that can go into a 10g?

keep in mind that this isn't even set up yet......i'm still planning it out

is there anything other than coral and anemone's that i can get in the tank?

try a catalina goby. Very colourful and peaceful. Though they are more comfortable in slightly lower temperatures

no more than clown gobies or neon gobies. Priceys vary fromlocation to location though so shop around

With a clownfish, you could add any of the smaller gobies - Rainford/court jester goby, neon goby, any of the clown gobies or a red or purple firefish to name a few. Pretty much, as long as it's 4" or shorter, a goby of that size will be just fine with a clown. For the clown, I would stick with a percula or ocellaris clown b/c they stay smaller than the others like the tomato, saddleback or maroon clown.

Nemo was closest to an ocellaris, for what that's worth. I was going to get an ocellaris, but at my lfs they said their stock of perculas seemed to be hardier, so I went with a perc.

well....for me to be permitted to get the tank in the first place, the misses says that I MUST have a Nemo fish or i ain't getting it.... i said ok

would a incadescent (sp) light be ok on a Nano Tank with coral? at least temporarily, till i get more money to buy something else? (say a few weeks)
