ive been thinking about setting up my 4 gallon 24x8x8 tank and am currently looking/planning the lighting

i have a hood from a 24x12 (will be choping it to 8 inch's) tank which has a built in light which will be getting taken out and i am thinking about replacing it with a 36w dayligh compact t5 (16 inch long which is perfect)

so i was wondering

1)if there are different tubes available if so what ones?
2)is it enough light? i will be using diy co2 and dose ei or just trace

thanks
chris

I got an Interpet Daylight Plus compact T5 which is 36w from 18" of tube, I like this tube in general and the T5 is as good as I can guess. I also just got a normal reflector which works fine using the clips that came with the tube.

i was going to use a reflector aswell (forgot about that

18 inches will fit (just checked)

do you know whattypes of tubes are available? or is it just the one

thanks

Have a look:

There are a few different tubes available, you may need to allow a few more inches to the length of the tube as the power lead bit puts around 2" on one end of the tube. Still, now I check, the 36w tube is actually 16" long so overall it is maybe 18" with the power lead.

thanks for that good link

by the looks of it the Interpet Daylight sounds the best plant wise can someone confirm/correct me?
thanks

If George Farmer recommends it in a national magazine then it's good enough for me :) I have a T8 variant over my 7 gallon and a T5 Power Compact over my 15 gallon, I am happy with both.

Yes the daylight is an excellent tube. I have the same sized tank for my nano, and used to run 2x 18w freshwater tubes, and got excellent results so would think 1 36w PC would be ideal :)
