Hi everyone. Ive got a m&f Anomala in a largish tank together on their own in the attempt to breed them. In the last couple of hours they have started behaving bizzarely. The male is chasing the female all around the tank, then they will stop at a stand-off, the male then backs up to the female shakes around near her then the chasing begins again. Its the male chasing the female, so its not a mother defending her fry.Is this WW3 or is it natural mating behaviour?Any advice is much appreciated.

yeah best indication is breeding colours, what does your boy look like at the moment!

he is a bluey/green with an orange stripe across his fin, she has the "checkerboard" look too. I know all these point to a possible spawning, but I havent read much about them chasing around.

best thing to do is feed them on good quality frozen food and wait thats what did it with my convicts but thats convicts they would breed in a toilet

well Ive had to take the female out. Saw her looking very subdued at the bottom of the tank and the male just bumping into her and nibbling. So shes in my other tank now, hopefully I got her out quick enough.
