Name that tune!

My husband & I sometimes play a game while I'm cooking. He tries to stump me with either a song title or band name. Today I was on fire!! I guessed 1 correctly with no notes at all, lol. I got all but 1 right even though I could sing along. I guessed X but it was Missing Persons, so close!!

OK, after almost 49 years of married life, it's not as hard as it would be for others. Some are pop/rock favs, some more obscure & some are predictable.

Does anyone else play this? I don't think either of us could guess more modern songs or 1s too far off our usual playlists. Still good stuff to cook to & often to dance to ...or maybe just lame old people fun!

My brain could have chosen to focus on many useful things, but no. It chose instant song recognition and fish stuff. I could wander way way west and join that game.
I'm just getting to know California punk. X is a new exploration to me. I can pick up most obscure British, French or Canadian punk from the late seventies to mid eighties, but American bands are a weak spot. MIssing Persons? They will be sampled!
I only have to hear a song once to be familiar with it, and now, my brain can often predict where new songs are going to go. I don't listen to pop as it slides right by like elevator tunes, but I'm an old guy. It has no context to me.
I recently found a recording by an obscure Boston garage band of the eighties. I'd had it on tape and hadn't heard it since maybe 1990, and I might have listened to it a dozen times back then. As I played it recently, I knew every song, every break, and even lyrics.
There's a downside - I get bored with music quickly and constantly seek new sounds. There aren't that many I can find, though I know they're out there.
I can't play the song guessing game with my wife, because her tastes are different.

I've reached the stage where many of the artists I'd like to see live probably aren't alive. But I've found great new bands who will never wander over to my little backwater city. Here, the touring bands are Queen or Rush imitators.
