Kinda hard to tell because they're juvenile, still got their stress colours on a bit and the blurring on the tail further complexes the identification!

However.. he looks like the same species as the picture that I showed you the other day, in the other thread.. which is a fish I still haven't truly identified - just presuming it's one of the undescribed species from the Geophagus sp. "altifrons" complex.

Either way mate they're going to turn in to a gorgeous fish. However.. I would say.. get him on a power feeding :) Frozen foods twice a day for as long as you can keep it up - looks a bit thin!

Take some more pics in a fortnight and maybe I'll be able to help you a bit better then. Sorry :)

they had a whole cube of bloodworms to themselves

yeh i know theyre a lil stressed, only had them 24hours lol, and i know they need to plump up lol

they hoovered the bloodworm, are they ok to eat some shrimp now, or shud i wait till 2moz morning?

What time did you feed 'em?

I usually try and feed 11am-1pm ish, then again in the evening, 7-8pm.

Course it's not your fault bud, they're just new :D I'm sure you'll do a sweet job of getting them nice and fat :D

i can see theyre gonna colour up well, u can just tell by looking closely at them

they guy said they were geos, but an unidentified species, and were labelled as fireworks

WOW WOW WOW

Nah mate leave 'em 'til tomorrow now :) Don't wanna overload your filter's bioload :) Feed 'em tomorrow.

lol im setting up a 2nd filter on that tank next week, thats IF i manage so sell the rest of my female bettas lol

awwww theyre swimming together, how cute, n cuddling up in the log stump

theyre a little brighter today, just hoovered up bloodworm and shrimp, will try n get some pics later :hyper:

duncs, quick question

do these guys need a cave of some sort?

i have a tree stump ornament in there atm, but i want to take it out, for more plants or a cave if they need it :hyper:

ps, what should my ph be for these guys?

In the wild their natural habitat would be sand substrate, with leaf litter and tree roots in the water. To replicate this I tend to just use sand and lots of good bits of bog/mopani wood. You can use leaves too, as long as they're the right type [I forget which] but I tend to find they just become a pain in the a**e after a while.. :) They won't need any caves, especially if you consider that these guys should reach almost a foot TL... :D

pH wise their natural habitat will be 5.5 to 6.5, though they can live in 7. I'd try and make your water more acidic if possible.

my ph is 7 out of the tap :D

sould i add some peat to my filter?

Yeah, hoy some peat in a filter net or a tight/stocking, put it in your filter and watch it stain the water. Your fish will appreciate it muchly and it will hopefully make it a little bit softer and more acidic :)

im going to have brown water lol

will my carbon not absorb the staining, like it does for my bogwood?

also i have a queens, and a magnum pleco, are they ok in a slightly more acidic water?
