I have fry in my main tank now, when i bought some new platy females the other day i noticed one had no lips and an injured fin after putting it in the tank, i can only assume its had mouth rot, i was going to use Myxazin then we suddenly had fry, so i had done one treatment and left it and now my poor blue guppy has a small white mark on his left side tail fin and body. He seems to have brushed most off his tail, but on his body its like a little tuft of cotton wool.

Or should i use Protozin

Technically, you shouldn't use any meds with fry, unless you have too. But it sounds like you have to. I'm not familiar with any of those meds, as I usually just use salt and sparkly clean water for my medicine. :p

What I do, when I do have to use meds with fry, is do half doses, but treat for longer. That's seemed to work okay, haven't lost any fry. But I'm not sure how strong those meds are. Maybe someone else can come along and give you advice on those specific meds. Or you could try PMing Wilder, she knows tons about this stuff. :)

Best of luck!

myxazin should be fine for your situation.
however to be on the safe side, follow Annas' advise and half dose.

you could also email waterlife and ask their experts
they should reply in a timely manner.

Firstly thankyou for the replies and advice, I'm going to start half dosing my tank with myxazin tomorrow, well i mean later today looking at the clock. ;)

My blue guppy doesn't look to bad, it has all come away from his tail, but still a small amount on his side. no other tank mates are a affected as yet, its my own fault i know as i really need a hospital come quarantine tank.

Anyways i've counted up to six fry now and their colour is forming, i think they're golden twinbar platies :D

I did phoned waterlife and told them my situation and they also said half dosing with myxazin would be safest.

Awww! Yay for the babies! :D

It's so funny, I get so involved with the people I am helping, I almost start to feel like their fry are mine! :p

Glad to hear Mr.Guppy is getting better. You should treat anyway, though, because it could come back. I'm not sure the med you are using will treat it...but if you keep the water nice and sparkly clean, and add a little salt (depending on other tankmates) it should heal up.

I have now 9 fry in my fry net and haven't seen any more in my tank, i'm just amazed at how fast they grow.

My red tuxedo platy didn't look pregnant when i got her a few days ago, but now she looks huge, so i may have more fry again soon, good job i have another tank up and cycling.

I can't do salt as i have cardinals and zebra otos :(

Its nice to think the babies are safe in the fry net cuddled in the java moss :)
