Well, I'm going to have a go...

Myth- Fish only grow to the size of the tank

I'm sure most of you thought this when you were a kid. Its been handed down from parents to kids for ages. Mainly about goldfish. You get that cute little 1/2 inch common goldfish and put it in a one gallon bowl, you won it at a fair, you don't want to waste money on it. After all, it grows to the size of the tank, right? Wrong. In theory, this would mean that if you put it in, say, a lake, it would get to the size of a great white shark. But it wouldn't, it would get to just over a foot. So why does it stop growing? Because it has reached its adult length. So anything under its full adult length is stunting it. If you see a man who is 3ft tall, what would you think? Probably 'Shortass...'. You don't consider it normal. So why is it normal for a goldfish to only reach a third or so of its adult length? Its not healthy. Have you recieved the chain email about the 'Bonsai Kittens'? What did you think? Is that healthy for the kitten? For those of you who don't know, it is a hoax about some japanese guy who puts a kitten in a jar so it only gets as big as the jar. Yet stunting goldfish is no hoax. A stunted goldfish will never live out its full 20 years or so. Obviously this can be applied to all fish. Not really good scientific evidence, but :p. See if you can come up with anything better.

Never heard anyone say it's harder to keep a bigger tank, I thought it was common knowledge that small tanks are harder. *shrugs*
A lot of beginners start out with a smaller tank, thinking it will be easier to clean and such... I know I did. If I didn't have my python, that part would be true! I can't imagine cleaning the 80 gallon with buckets
Try cleaning a 120 gallon with buckets. :p I've got my own "pythons" now from carrying so many 20 pound buckets back and forth.
