Any one got any ideas on this?
I had seven (bred by my mum) emperor tetras in my tank. i've had them about two years; an all male group. About a month/six weeks ago I added six Congo tetras. Everyone was healthy, both kinds of tetra shoaled together and everything was fine. Then a week ago I added six more Congos, and now my emperors are sick with 'something'.
One looked a bit bloated and an odd colur on thursday teatime and it was a bit quiet; it was dead by the evening; it happened really fast.
Everything else looked fine until last night when I fed them, they were all in one corner as if they'd had a fright from something; apart from that they looked fine, but I found another one dead this morning.
I've netted them out and got them in 20 gallon tank with a few plastic plants, a filter with ceramic rings from the main filter and a heater (at 78°F/26°C)
Main tank is; 48x15x18"
stocking is/was
7 emperor tetra (now 5 in a hospital tank)
12 Congo tetra
1 4 inch black angel (was one of a pair but he turned on his mate one day and I had to re-home her)
7 Corydoas adolfoi and eight cw021 cories.
Stats are;
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 10/15ppm (I have done an approx 50% wc in there as I took the water from the hospital tank out from here)
pH 6.8
temp 76248F/24°C
APS 2000lph external with ceramic rings and bioballs
Was set up with cycled media from another tank about six months ago
Never had any health issues with any of the fish before now.
All the other fish seem happy and healthy and look totally normal.
I can only asumme that the second batch of Congos have introduced something that they, and everything else, is immune to.
Anyone seem anything like it or have a clue how to go about treating it? I don't have any meds except something for whitespot
