Bought a Boesemani Rainbowfish today.

Came with two free mystery fry.

I suspect these may be two more Rainbows since that is almost all that was in the tank other than some sucker fish and a couple catfish.

These fry love the surface and are hiding behind the filter intake.

I'd like to give these two a shot to make it no matter what they are, but especially if it means ashot at tripling the investment ;)

Anyway, don't have a breeding trap anymore. I'll have to get one. But what should these things be eating?

I read somewhere online that Bosemani fry will favor the surface.

Now that could be someone talking out their bums, but that's where these guys are. There pretty colorless, so who knows.

The only fry I ever had were some kind of Mollies about 15 years ago. Those ones all apeared in the tank one day, and I managed to save about a quarter of them in a net-style breeding trap. I turned most of them back to the store for credit. But that's my only experience with fry of any kind.

I do have to get these guys a trap though, I have a dwarf gourami and some silvertip Tetras that are bloodworm fans, and I'd hate to have an accident.

Hopefully somone that has had Rainbow fry can let me know what they look like, how they behave, etc. Then I can maybe compare them.

For all I know, though they could just be guppies or something. My LFS moves their fish around from tank to tank pretty often, so anything is possible a this point.

Whatever kind they are, though, they are for sure my favorite kind of fish: FREE Fish.
