Hello, all (-: I hope you are having/had a great weekend.
I have a baby fish with me here in my dorm that I rescued from the bbg's in my aquarium back home. My aquarium has guppies, mollies, and (black! very cool) swords, as far as livebearers go. (the only other species I have with more than one fish is the bbgs). This little guy is now about a half in long or so, colorlesss, with a round tail and fan-shaped anal fin. So, I have two questions for you:
-At what age does the anal fin change shape, or are the shape differences present from birth? I can easily sex an adult but I didn't know if my youngster is fully developed yet or not.
-How old do you think he/she is, at roughly a half in long and eating finly crumbled flake food with no problem?
-Is there any way at all to tell the difference between a molly, swordtail, and guppy fry? It may or may not help to know that all my swordtails are black/blue (do the fry come out black or do they develop it? I don't know. This one has no color yet), I have black, 24k, silver, and dalmation mollies (could this one be silver?), and that my mom says she found several more fry now at home and some of them have black on them but it sounds like they aren't all black. Ideas, or things I can look for?
